Mrs. Maxie Bullington Dezern, 88, of Shoals, passed away Saturday evening, August 15, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born July 12, 1921, in Surry County, to the late Walter and Loretta Lankford Bullington. She was a homemaker and a member of Pinnacle View Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Dezern Brown and Eddie of Shoals; a granddaughter and her husband, Lorrie Brown Sawyers and Greg of Shoals; a grandson and his wife, Kevin Edward Brown and Patty of Shoals; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob Kinzer Sawyers, Joshua Thomas Sawyers, Emma Marie Brown, and Luke Edward Brown, all of Shoals. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dezern was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Franklin Dezern; five sisters; and seven brothers. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 17, 2009, at 6:00 PM at Pinnacle View Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronnie Chamblin, the Rev. Joseph Alexander, and Mr. Kevin Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy and from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at Pinnacle View Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Pinnacle View Baptist Church Improvement Fund, c/o Rachel Hall, 463 Corner Road, Pinnacle, NC 27043.
