Maxine Frankie Simpson Gwyn

Mrs. Maxine Frankie Simpson Gwyn, age 89 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully Friday August 30, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 4, 1935, in Surry County to the late Hilbert Franklin Simpson and Laura Perkins Simpson. Mrs. Gwyn was retired from Spencers Corporation after many years of service. Mrs. Gwyn loved to mow her yard and work in her flowers and anything outdoors. She was a wonderful country cook. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 70 years, Johnny Gwyn of the home; sons and a daughter-in-law, Gray and Kathy Gwyn, and Dennis Gwyn; grandchildren, Jennifer and Ben Grumbach, Kimberly and Justin Snow, Allison and Jac Creed, Chrissy and Nick Robson, and Jonathan and Shelly Gwyn; great grandchildren, Ellie Grumbach, Lydia Grumbach, Jonah Snow, Noelle Snow, Graylyn Creed, Laura Robson, and Clint Robson; nieces, Jean and Ronnie Easter, and Jane and Ron Sutphin; and special caregivers, Mary Kay Snow, Jeff Tate, and Vanessa Jester. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gwyn was preceded in death by her sister, Arlene Danley; and by her brother, Odell Simpson. Graveside services will be held at Skyline Memory Gardens on Monday September 2, 2024, at 3:00pm with Brother Tim Smith officiating.
