May Belle Combs Hawks

Ms. May Belle Combs Hawks, age 72 of Stuart, passed away Monday, August 21, 2006 at her daughter's home. Ms. Hawks was born in Carroll County, November 24, 1933 to Victor Lafayette and Rebbie Belle Spencer Combs. She was a loving homemaker and was a member of Bottom Road Tabernacle. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Sheila Weaver of the home; Patricia and Rev. Ronald Thomas of Mt. Airy; a son, Brad Hawks of Stuart, VA; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters and a brother-in-law, Opal and Rev. Donald Bryant, Sr. and Fatha Blackburn all of Lambsburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Paul and Shirley Combs of Mt. Airy; and Gene and Hazel Combs of Lambsburg. In addition to her parents, Ms. Hawks was preceded in death by brothers, Kelly "Ted" Combs, Alan Combs, Victor Combs and Leonard Combs. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at Fellowship Tabernacle, conducted by Rev. Ronald Thomas, Rev. Donald Bryant, Sr. and Rev. Donald Bryant, Jr. Burial will follow in Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Fellowship Tabernacle. Moody Funeral Home is serving the Hawks family.
