Maybellle Collins Marshall

Mrs. Maybelle "May" Collins Marshall, 82, of 916 Green Spring Road, Ararat, VA, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born May 21, 1926, in Patrick County, VA, to the late John Walter and Frances Hall Collins. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Roy Marshall of Ararat, VA, Ann and Junior Cockerham of Mount Airy, Jewel and Herbert Bowman of Ararat, VA, and Carolyn Marshall of Ararat, VA; a son and two daughters-in-law, Clayton "Bill" and Rhoda Marshall of Ararat, VA, and Mildred Puckett Marshall of Mount Airy; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Velva and Irvin Collins of Ararat, VA; a brother, Lester Collins; and two sisters-in-law, Delphia Bowman of Ararat, VA, and Ruthie Marshall of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Clinton Marshall; a daughter, Charlene Marshall; a son, Bob Marshall; a sister, Lettie Nester; and a brother, Bernie Collins. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. The family will be receiving friends at the home of a daughter, Jewell Bowman, East Fork Road, Ararat, VA. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is assisting the Marshall family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Wade Bowman.
