Mrs. Maydee Scott Cromer, 83, of 204 Garden Terrace, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Cromer was born July 13, 1927, in Surry County, to the late Walter and Sadie Jane Pack Scott. She retired from Spencer's Inc. and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl and Steve Badgett of Germanton and Tammy Cromer of Ararat, VA; a special daughter-in-law, Connie Cromer of Ararat, VA; three grandchildren, Brian Badgett and his wife, Norma, of Walnut Cove, Courtney Cromer of New York, NY, and Dee Horton and her husband, Blake, of Ararat, VA; three special great-grandchildren Raegan Badgett, Jackson Horton, and Olivia Cromer Restivo; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Margaret Lamb, Mary and George Goad, Faye and Dwight Johnson, and Maxine Scott, all of Mount Airy, and Chester Anderson of Rural Hall; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Donald Ray and Ann Scott of Mount Airy, Arthur and Pearlie Scott of Ararat, VA, and Verda Scott of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cromer was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Cromer; a son, Trent Cromer; a son-in-law, D.J. Martin; three sisters, Gladys Anderson, Ruby Bowman, and Maggie Hayden; three brothers, Thomas Scott, Roscoe Scott, and John Scott; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Lamb. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Lee Boyette officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, 651 South Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
