McKinley Reynolds Dalton

Mr. McKinley Reynolds Dalton, 86, of 593 Little Mountain Church Road, Ararat, passed away Sunday night, August 7, 2016, at Genesis HealthCare in Sparta. Mr. Dalton was born November 27, 1929, in Bland County, VA, the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Ett Dalton. McKinley retired from Ararat Rock Products Company and was a member of Blackwater Community Church. He is survived by his wife, Mirlie Jones Johnson Dalton of Ararat; his children, Harold Dalton and Ronnie and Harriet Dalton, all of Mount Airy, Mable and Junior Tate, Ricky and Bertha Dalton, and Earl Dalton, all of Cana, VA, Jerry and Imogene Dalton of Fancy Gap, VA, and Freda and Dale Rakes and Dean and Shelby Dalton, all of Ararat; his stepchildren, Carolyn Willard and Angie O’Neal; twelve grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, “Little” Jim Crossingham. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dalton was preceded in death by his first wife, Daisy Bell Tolley Dalton; two children, Ruth Ellen Dalton and Jimmy Lee Dalton; two grandchildren, Michael Dalton and Hannah Bell Dalton; and a brother, Sanford Dalton. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ronnie Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn United Methodist Church Cemetery in Woodlawn, VA. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
