Mrs. Melba Jean Brim Gammons, 74, of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on January 27, 1947, to the late Rev. Calvin and Ollie Nunn Brim. Mrs. Gammons retired from the Surry County Sheriff Department, and a member of Mount Airy Church of God. Mrs. Gammons helped start the Shepherds House in Dobson where she was on the board of directors. She is survived by her husband and the love of her life, Charles Gammons; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Robin Gammons, Dennis Gammons and Marcia Hall; grandchildren, Chase and Sara Gammons, Emily and Mitch Mabe, Madeline Gammons, Chandler Gammons; a great grandson, Knox Henry Gammons; her brothers and sisters, Ted and Ruth Brim, Joe Brim, Tim Brim, Susan Miller, Linda Brim, Mike and Gail Brim, Kenneth and Janice Brim, Libby and Bill Patterson; many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Indian Grove Family Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Chamblin officiating. There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sheriff Atkinson’s Give a Kid a Christmas, Inc. P.O. Box 827, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the love and care given to Melba during her illness. Moody Funeral Home in mt.
