Melissa "Lisa" Ann Jeffreys

Melissa “Lisa” Ann Spencer Jeffreys went home to the Lord on August 15, 2021, at the age of 59. Lisa was born to Pearl Howlett and Raymond Spencer on August 5, 1962, in Mount Airy, North Carolina. Having lived in Mount Airy all her life, Lisa has been a continuing source of inspiration throughout the community. All through Lisa’s life, she has been involved with The Salvation Army in Mount Airy, NC, where she served her time as a Young People’s Sergeant Major. Lisa’s influence on the Salvation Army not only caused an impact for her own church, but for the North and South Carolina division, as she served as a Divisional Sergeant Major. Lisa was also a champion for individuals with Autism and special needs and served as co-chapter leader for the Autism Society of North Carolina Surry County Chapter. Lisa has helped in sponsoring events such as the chapter’s annual walk for Autism. Lisa is survived by her husband, Stephen Jeffreys; her oldest son Matthew Jeffreys; her youngest son and daughter-in-law William “Garrett” Jeffreys and Katie Johnson; her sister and brother-in-law Susie and Donnie Wilson; her sister-in-law Monica Spencer; and her brother-in-law William “Billy” McDowell. In addition to her parents, Lisa was preceded in death by her stepfather Lawrence Pyles; her brother Tony Spencer; and her sister Robin McDowell. A memorial service is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on August 22nd at The Salvation Army Church on 651 S South St, Mt Airy, NC 27030. Captain Ryan Vincent will officiate.
