Melissa "Missy" Kaye (Burks) Phillips

Mrs. Melissa “Missy” Kaye Burks Phillips, age 51 passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem.  Mrs. Phillips was born April 14, 1972, in McDowell County, West Virginia to Kermit and Kaye Houk Burks.  Missy was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.   She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Surviving is her husband, Lonnie Joe Phillips; a daughter Holli Noel Phillips; a sister, Rebecca Lester; father and mother, Kermit and Kaye Houk Burks; along with numerous other family and friends.  Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Elbert and Dorothy Houk; and her paternal grandparents, Felix and Mary Burks.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Reverend Ricky Martin.  Interment will follow in the Peoples Church Cemetery in Mount Airy.  The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Moody Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
