Merle Dean Lambert

Mrs. Merle Dean Bowman Lambert, age 80, of Mt Airy, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at her home.  She was born in Surry County on November 11, 1942, to the late James and Carrie Durham Bowman.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will surely be missed by all who loved her.  Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Sharon Lambert, of the home, Sheila Lambert Diggs (Darren), and son, Scott Lambert; grandchildren, Justin Amos (Britany), James Amos, Daniel Chandler (Kaitlyn), Seth Chandler, and Wesley Diggs; great-grandchildren, Cooper Chandler, Moira Amos, Sophie Chandler, and Adalyn Chandler; brother Ronnie Bowman (Nancy), and sister, Phyllis Bowman.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lambert was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, James Larry Lambert.  Her children, grandchildren, siblings and other family were witness to a love so strong and deep between them that it never faltered in their 57 years together.  She was loyal and loving and a natural caregiver to those around her.  Her caring extended to friends of her children and grandchildren and her home a gathering place for numerous family and friends throughout the years.  She was a seamstress and a gardener, and in those things her loving nature shined through as well.  Her support throughout the years for those in her life will never be forgotten.  Although the last few years she was not able to visit some of those she loved, she spoke of them often.  She was a light in all our lives and our world is less bright without her but she has been reunited with her Larry and their love shines down on us.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 2:00pm at Slate Mountain Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Chris McMillian.  Burial will follow in the Midkiff Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and family from 1:00pm until time for the service at the church.
