Michael Ray Helms

Mr. Michael Ray Helms, age 67, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born on April 9, 1956 in Patrick County to the late Russell and Dalphine Belcher Helms.  Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Amanda Helms; sons, Michael Helms Jr, Brandon Nester, and Marcus Nester; grandchildren, Trever, Tanner, Julianna, Aliyah,  Kailyn Nester, and Corbin Nester. He also had ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who live in Minnesota. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Wood (Gilbert), brother and sister-in-law, Richard Helms (Ann); mother-in-law, Launia Hawks; uncle, Lindel Belcher as well as several nieces and nephews .  In addition to his parents Mr. Helms was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne Helms; second wife Toni (Peanut) Nester; son Jonathan Helms.  A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Mayberry Presbyterian Church with service conducted by Rev. Jonathan Goins.  Burial will follow in Burnette - White Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time for the service at the church.
