Michael "Mike" Wade Estes, Sr.

Mr. Michael “Mike” Wade Estes. Sr., 79, of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, September 12, 2022, at Surry Health by Harborview in Mt. Airy.  He was born in Surry County on July 1, 1943, to the late Harry Estes and Love Ashburn Estes.  Mr. Estes was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  Mr. Estes graduated from Hargrave Military Academy, and attended Virginia Tech.  He is survived by his wife, Tammy Robertson Estes; a daughter and son-in-law, Leigh Moore and Mark; sons, Mickey Estes, Jr., Chris Estes and fiancée Teresa Grooms; grandchildren, Holly, Casey, Morgan, Maggie, Kaleigh, Hunter, and Lauren; a brother and sister-in-law, Don Estes and Pam.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Estes was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Estes.  A visitation will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 2:00 until 4:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.  The Family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Surry Health by Harborview for the love and care given to Mike during his stay there.  There will not be a formal service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Dr., Suite 101, Mt.
