Mr. Michael David Stone, 68, of Mount Airy, went home to the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, while surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Stone was born May 16, 1952, in Newport News, VA, the son of the Rev. Paul Frank and Annie Belle Sparks Stone. Michael served our country in the United States Army from 1969 until 1972. He retired as a truck driver from Estes Express Lines and was driving for BRS Trucking, Inc. prior to his sickness. Mr. Stone was a member of Genesis Full Gospel Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Melinda Shinault Stone of the home; three daughters, Melody Stone (Vinson Crockett), Mahaley Stone (Harvey Turner), and Michaela Stone (Cody Bennett), all of Mount Airy; three sons, Matthew Stone, Malachi Stone, and Markus Stone, all of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Aaliyah Davis, Kayden Walker, Kaleb Walker, and Harper Turner, all of Mount Airy; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila and Ron McKelvey of San Antonio, TX, and Wilma and Donald Hall of Mount Airy; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Steve and Frances Stone of Rural Hall, Jeff and Mary Stone of Wagram, and Tracy Stone (Lisa Hobernicht) of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law and her husband, Karen and Tim Vogler of Elk Creek, VA; many, many nieces and nephews; and his other parents, Tom and Ella Shinault of Mount Airy. Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Paul Frank and Annie Belle Sparks Stone; a brother, Kenneth Barry Stone; a sister-in-law, Sherri Stone; and a nephew, Kirk Dwight Stone. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Genesis Full Gospel Church, with the Rev. Donnie Hooker officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the conclusion of the service by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and prayers by their special friends and neighbors.
