Michael J. Williard

Mr. Michael J. Williard, 43, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, August 3, 2012. Mr. Williard was born August 2, 1969, to J.D. and Nadine Williard. Mike was a loyal fan of "The Andy Griffith Show" and all sports, especially those involving the Carolina "Tarheels," and had a love of the study of history. He was a graduate of North Surry High School, class of 1987, attended Surry Community College, and graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he majored in political science. He is survived by his parents, J.D. and Nadine Williard of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Jana Williard; several nieces and nephews, Zachary, Lauren, Abigail, Chasen, and Michael; special aunts and uncles, Bonnie and Royce Sisk and Ben and Frances Bolick; close cousins, Renea Reed, Katie Bolick, and Frank Bolick; and special friends, Mason and Morgan. Mr. Williard was preceded in death by his grandparents, John D. Williard, Sr. and Ruth Etta Hill Williard of Pilot Mountain and Benjamin F. and Docia Harrison Bolick of Boone; and an uncle, Cody Williard. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Hills Presbyterian Church, 266 Hills Presbyterian Church Road, Pilot Mountain, with the Rev. Mandy Santolla officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Hills Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hills Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1720, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041; or a charity of the donor's choice.
