Mrs. Michelle Simcox Todd, 38, of 241 Carson Creek Road, Lowgap, died peacefully on Friday afternoon, August 7, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a courageous battle with Lupus. Mrs. Todd was born March 4, 1971, in Forsyth County, the daughter of Bruce Webb Simcox, Jr. and Patricia Messick Simcox. Michelle graduated from North Surry High School in 1989 and lived in Lowgap the most of her life. She was formerly employed at Pine State Knitwear and a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lowgap. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Todd of Lowgap; three sons, Timothy Suiter of Cana, VA, and Dakota Todd and Dalton Todd, both of Lowgap; her mother, Patricia Messick Simcox of Winston-Salem; her father, Bruce Webb Simcox, Jr. of the home; a brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Natasha Simcox of Winston-Salem; a nephew, Tanner Simcox of Dobson; two nieces, Alexis Simcox and Brooke Simcox, both of Winston-Salem; her grandmother, Hallie Simcox of Lowgap; an uncle and his wife, Joey and Eva Simcox of Colfax; and an aunt and her husband, Sandra and Wayne Williams of Cornelius. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 10, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chris Oakley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church, and other times at the home of Bruce Webb Simcox, Jr., 241 Carson Creek Road, Lowgap. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., P.O. Box 631047, Baltimore, MD 21263-1047. The family wishes to thank the nurses in the palliative care unit and other departments at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for the attentive care given to Michelle during her illness.
