Mildred Anne Robertson Cockrell

Mrs. Mildred Anne Robertson Cockrell, 91, of 3202 Summit Hills Trail, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, June 16, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Cockrell was born December 6, 1916, in Petersburg, VA, to the late Luther Hubank and Bertha Steele Jones Robertson. She retired as a math teacher from Mount Airy Junior High School and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. While residing at RidgeCrest, Anne was an avid Bridge player. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Banky "Bink" and Roy Dale Brown of Hickory; and three grandchildren, Charles Taylor Brown of Denver, Matthew Ruffin Brown of Boone, and Elizabeth Robertson "Robbie" Brown of Asheville. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cockrell was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wootton "Bunny" Cockrell; and a brother, Henry B. Robertson. The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 22, 2008, at 3:30 PM Central United Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. John Ferree, and burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 to 3:30 in the Ladies' Parlor of Central United Methodist Church.
