Mrs. Mildred Clair Slate Prillaman Glenn, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away early Sunday morning, March 11, 2018, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Glenn was born July 1, 1927, in Stokes County, one of six children born to the late Cecil A. and Grace Collins Slate. Mildred retired as a teller from NCNB after many years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Airy. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Jerry Smith of King; a son, Larry Prillaman of Clemmons; her grandchildren, Lindsay Prillaman of High Point, Chase Prillaman and Grace Prillaman, both of Clemmons, Lee and Lydia Smith of King, and Will Smith of Topsail; a great-grandson, Collin Renegar Smith of King; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty Hiatt of Mount Airy and Brenda and Bill Ogburn and Linda and Corey Novak, all of Mooresville; two sisters-in-law, Mollie Slate of Sanford and Billie Slate of Mount Airy; two brothers-in-law, Reid Prillaman of Greensboro and Tom Glenn of Winston-Salem; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Glenn was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Leath Prillaman; her second husband, James Eugene Glenn; and two brothers, Bruce Slate and Graham Slate. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jay Meadows and Dr. Roger B. Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM at Stoneville Cemetery in Stoneville, with the Rev. Buddy Self officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 in the Fireside Room at First Baptist Church. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Northern Hospital of Surry County and the staff at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Fund, 714 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
