Mildred Aleene (Bateman) Gordon

Mrs. Mildred “Aleene” Bateman Gordon, age 87 of Mount Airy passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Gordon was born in Patrick County, Virginia to the late Robert Harvey and Evelyn Hope Mills Bateman.  Aleene was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend.  She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church while her health permitted.  Aleene is survived by a daughter, Donna Lynn Hampton; two sisters, Nelda Bateman Jester, Mary Bateman Bennett, one brother, Robert Bateman; and one brother-in-law, Spencer Nelson.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by her husband,  Edward Douglas “Buck” Gordon; a son, Edward Brent Gordon; one sister, Helen Nelson; and two brothers, Roger Bateman, and Dale Bateman.  A memorial service will be conducted by the family at a later date.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
