Mildred Spencer King Cox

Mrs. Mildred Spencer King Cox, 91, of Stuart, VA, passed away on Thursday evening, February 17, 2022, at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart, VA.  She was born in Surry County on July 15, 1930, to the late Samuel “Sam” Wilson King and Jettie Mae Gammons King.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She was always cooking something delicious, and you never left hungry when you came for a visit.  Left to cherish her memory are her two sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Debbie Cox, and Ronnie and Julia Cox; granddaughters, Breanna Cox, and Amanda and Will Lane; great-grandchildren, Elijah Kolt Lane, and Payton Elise Lane; sisters, Arlene Chitwood, and Lena Conley; and by several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Arthur Ray “Tom’ Cox; a great-grandson, Kolten Embry Lane, three sisters, Mamie Nugent, Mary Etta Cook and Gladys Metheny; and by seven brothers, Garland King, Carlos King, Claude Elmer King, Harvey King, Percy King, Willie King, and Aldie King.  Funeral services for Mrs. Cox will be held at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 2:00PM with the Rev. Rickey Rogers and Rev. Buford Jessup officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mount Ararat Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, 5830 Ararat Hwy., Ararat, VA 24053.  The family will receive friends at Moody’s on Monday night, February 21, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00PM.  The family request that masks be worn during the visitation and the funeral service.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Mount Ararat Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery Fund, 1106 Dry Pond Hwy Claudville, VA. 24076.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Cox family.
