Mildred Ball Montgomery

Mrs. Mildred Ball Montgomery,73, widow of former Surry County Sheriff Robert Montgomery, passed away on Wednesday September 24, 2008 at Northern Hospital of Surry County with her family by her bedside.She was born in Surry County on January 13, 1935 to the late Luther Forest and Susie Fowler Ball. Mrs. Montgomery was a graduate of Draughn's Business College in Winston-Salem and a retired office manager from Tultex Industries after thirty eight years of service. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter and son-in-law Lakey and Bobby Curlee of Faith, NC; two sons and a daughter-in-law Bobby Montgomery and Robert L. II "Monty" and Jane Montgomery all of Dobson; five grandchildren Brittany Montgomery of Dobson, Alexa Montgomery of Dobson, Jennifer Shoe of Rockwell, Matt Montgomery of Concord and Wendy Montgomery also of Concord; seven great-grandchildren and a brother Forest Ball of Walkertown. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by Rev. Michael Macon with burial to follow in Dobson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm on Saturday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Foothills Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1065, Dobson, NC 27017.
