Mrs. Mildred Ferguson Collins Stevens, 87, passed away Monday morning, April 11, 2011, at Village Care of King. Mrs. Stevens was born February 24, 1924, in Surry County, daughter of the late Henry Howard and Lelia Jane White Ferguson. She retired from Spencer's Corporation and was a member of Hills Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Nelda Fay Hodges of Woodleaf, Judy Tucker and Darrell Gainey of Germanton, and Deborah and Mark Branch of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters in-law, Johnny Gray and Joyce Collins of King and Timothy and Chris Collins of Omaha, NE; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Audrey Lee Boyd of Portsmouth, VA, Betty Ruth Haynes of Dobson, and Barbara Ann Collins of Siloam; and a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Betty Jane Ferguson of Pilot Mountain. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Collins; a son, Tommy Ray Collins; a grandson, Michael Hodges; three sisters; and a brother. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Hills Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Emmitt Crotts and the Rev. Ronnie Chamblin officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 13, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.
