Mrs. Mildred Virginia Wagoner Shelton Collins, 101, of Winston-Salem, passed away at the Salemtowne Moravian Home. Mrs. Collins was born in Surry County on December 22, 1919 to the late Percy Miles and Hattie Mae Watts Wagoner. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby Shelton Laney, Diane Shelton Fox and husband Jimmy, Rosemary Shelton Jones and husband Alton; one daughter-in-law, Winnie Shelton; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, William “Bill” Wagoner and wife Geraldine; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph William “Pete” Shelton; one son Larry Dallas Shelton; one son-in-law, Keith Laney; one grandson, Vince Rogers, and one great-grandson, Zackary Shelton; her second husband, Gerald Rupert Collins. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 2:00PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev. Rusty Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy is serving the family.
