Ms. Mildred Faye Blackmon Wall, 80, of 254 Critz Street, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Ms. Wall was born October 15, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Elzer and Margie Childress Blackmon. She was a 1945 graduate of Franklin High School and retired from Renfro Corporation. Mildred was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of the church for more than 50 years. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Phillip R. Hiatt of Mount Airy; two sons, James Dale Wall and Steve Wall, both of Mount Airy; ten grandchildren and four spouses, Eric Hiatt of Greensboro, Chris and Lori Hiatt and Jessica Wall, all of Mount Airy, Stephanie and David Ross of Winston-Salem, Emily and Shawn Combs of Cana, VA, Melissa and Scott Joyce of Walnut Cove, Sarah Wall, Caleb Wall, and Jacob Wall, all of Gainesboro, TN, and James Dale Wall, II of Lakemoor, IL; six great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Laviel Blackmon if Fayettville. In addition to her parents, Ms. Wall was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Blackmon. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 11, 2008, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Chris Dotson officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 314 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
