Minie Sawyers Goins

Mrs Minie Sawyers Goins age 85 of Ararat, VA ascended into heaven April 23, 2007 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born May 14, 1921 in Patrick County VA to the late Dave and Dora Hall Sawyers. She married the late Chester Goins on July 5, 1939. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Mrs. Goins was an active member of Food and Fun Senior Groups in Ararat, VA and a member of Doe Run Baptist Church in Ararat, VA. She is survived by her eleven children and spouses, Gerline and Ralph Doby of Kernersville, Shirley and John David Clark of Stuart, Lottie and Donnie Fulk of Walkertown, Betty and Preston Roberson of Henderson, Howard Goins of Ararat, Teddy and Wanda Goins of Mt. Airy, Christine and Roy Coalson of Lowgap, Judy and Glen Niten of Ararat, VA, Troy Goins of the home, Larry and Karen Goins of Ararat, VA, Teresa and Tommy Boyd of Mt. Airy, NC; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Goins was preceded in death by a sister, Oma Bateman; six brothers, George, Jimmy, Arthur, Robert Lee, Cossie and Acie Sawyers. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 Pm at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 26 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy by Rev. Terry Vaughn and Rev. Odell White with burial to follow at New Beginnings Baptist Church in Ararat, VA. The family will leave the cemetery to go to Blue Ridge Fellowship Church to be with friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to New Beginnings Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Odell White, 305 Whipperwhill Lane, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
