Miss Minnie Mae Coe, 84, of Dobson went home to be with the Lord on Sunday October 26, 2008 at Golden Living Nursing Center after several months of declining health. She was born in Surry County on May 6, 1924 to the late John Wesley and Sarah Bertha Wood Coe Draughn. Miss Coe was a retired Secretary from the former Alberty Oil Company after thirty-five years of service. A faithful member of Salem Baptist Church, she was the church's financial secretary for more than twenty years. Survivors include two loving sisters, Mary Ruth Hemmings of Dobson and Pauline Ransdell of Mount Airy; a loving brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Dare Draughn of Bowie, Maryland and three nieces Dianne and husband Rob Morgan of Billings, MT, Kristi and husband Jonathan Harris of Ellicott City, MD, and Lisa and husband Bill Russell of Loudoun County, VA; two nephews, Dan and wife Tracy Speight and David Speight all of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents, Miss Coe was preceded in death by a brother, Jobie Draughn. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday October 29, 2008 at Salem Baptist Church by Rev. Bobby Lewis and Rev. Darrell Tate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service and at other times at the home of her sister, Mary Ruth Hemmings 423 Blessing Drive Dobson, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 430 Rockford Road Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Bill and Linda Hardy for their loving care for Minnie through the years, to her home caregivers and the staff of Golden Living Nursing Center in Mt. Airy, NC.
