Mrs. Minnie Louise Queen Collins, 84, of Walkertown, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at her daughter's home. Mrs. Collins was born May 25, 1926, in Surry County, to Quincy and Lula Bennett Queen. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all her family, friends and neighbors. Mrs. Collins is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and James Wilson; a granddaughter, Kacie Wilson; a great-grandson, Channing O'Neal; and a sister, Gracie Goins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, James Ervin Collins; two sisters, Needa Harrold and Lilly Martin; and five brothers, Willie Queen, David Queen, Sidney Queen, Johnny Queen, and Raymond Queen. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 10, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Pastor Herb Mabe and Chaplain Ann Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in the Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Patient and Family Welfare Fund, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to express a special thanks to Cindy Bradshaw, Christy Rominger, Carmen Price Booker, Ann Dalton, Peggy Lunsford, and Rachel McBride for the love, care, and support shown to Ms. Minnie and her family during her illness.
