Mintoria Bowman Posey

Mrs. Mintoria Bowman Posey, 99, of 3482 Volunteer Road, Pinnacle, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012. Mrs. Posey was born October 31, 1913, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Susie Ellen Hall. She was a homemaker and the oldest living member of Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Mintoria loved her church family and looked forward to going to any service. She was a good southern cook, an excellent seamstress, and loved homecoming with lunch on the grounds; she wanted to be a part of it as long as she was able and as long as there was good preaching and good singing. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara P. Shelton of Pinnacle and Mattie P. Payne of Pilot Mountain; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Posey was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Woodrow Posey; a son, Ernest Larry Posey; two brothers, Clinton Bowman and Estel Bowman; and a son-in-law, Eddie "Ed" W. Shelton. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at 6:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Mitch Robertson and the Rev. Rickey Spencer officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 until 5:30 PM at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held Thursday at Pine Hill Friends Meeting Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 129 Veterans Drive, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
