Miss Mary Jo Doss, age 77 of Dobson passed away at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin on Saturday evening April 18, 2009. She was born in Surry County on February 25, 1932 to the late Julius Hardin Doss and to the late Ada Coe Doss. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters Irene Culler, Virginia Dare Doss; four brothers Hugh, Wade, Paul and Wilbur Doss. She was a member of Stony Knoll United Methodist Church and was a retired Beautician. Surviving is one sister Betty Lou Doss of the home whom Mary loving provided and cared for her entire life. By five nieces Linda Allen of Myrtle Beach, SC, Deborah Snow of Dobson, Janet Singletary of Fayetteville, Rebecca Norman of Hamptonville, Jill Raines of Lexington; by five nephews Donald Culler of Mt. Airy, Robert Culler of Pinnacle, Roy Culler of Pilot Mtn., Bill Doss of Winston Salem, Tommy Doss of Mt. Airy. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM at Stony Knoll United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Lawton will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 2 until time of the services at 3:00 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Stony Knoll United Methodist Church C/O Dorothy McCormick 1095 stony Knoll Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The Family would like to thank the second floor nursing staff and the intermediate Care Unit of the Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, and a special thanks to Glenda Lowe.
