Miss Betty Lou Doss, age 87, of Dobson, NC passed away at Twelve Oaks Rest Home in Mt. Airy, NC on Wednesday February 5, 2014. She was born in Surry Co. on October 17, 1926 to the late Julius Hardin and Ada Coe Doss. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters Irene Culler, Mary Jo Doss, and Virginia Dare Doss; four brothers Hugh, Wade, Paul and Wilbur Doss; one nephew Donald Culler. Betty was a member of Stony Knoll United Methodist Church and she loved to sing Jesus Loves Me with the Church Choir. Surviving are five nieces Linda Allen, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Deborah Snow, of Dobson, Janet Singletary of Fayetteville, NC, Rebecca Norman, of Hamptonville, Jill Raines, of Lexington; four nephews Robert Culler, of Pinnacle, Roy Culler, of Pilot Mountain, Bill Doss, of Winston-Salem, Tommy Doss, of Mt. Airy, NC.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday February 8, 2014 at Stony Knoll United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Lawton will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Stony Knoll United Methodist Church on Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of her service at 11:00 A.M. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Stony Knoll United Methodist Church Building Fund C/O Dorothy McCormick 1095 Stony Knoll Road, Dobson, NC 27017. the family would like to give a special Thanks to the Twelve Oaks Memory Care Unit for their love and care of Betty.
