Miss Annie "Kathleen" Hamby

Miss Kathleen Hamby, age 74 of Elkin, NC, passed away on Friday morning June 9, 2017 at Elkin Assisted Living in Elkin. She was born in Surry Co. on June 20, 1942, to Annie Lee Hamby Gentry, and to the late Robert Andrew Hamby. She was of the Baptist faith, participated in the Surry County Special Olympics for many years, and enjoyed making several crafts including pine needle baskets. She had a great love for the people of the Mt. Airy, Dobson, and Elkin areas. Surviving are her mother; two sisters and Linda and husband Fred Swanson, of Granite Falls, NC, Bonnie Osborne, of State Road; one brother Frank and wife Kathy Hamby, of Pinnacle; uncle Fred Harris, of Elkin; step brothers Fred Gentry of East Bend, and Johnny Gentry and wife Nancy, of State Road . There will be a graveside service held at a later date to bury her cremains.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Surry County Special Olympics C/O Daniel White, 122 Hamby Rd. Dobson, NC 27017.
