Miss Helen Mae "Hedge" Hiatt

Miss Helen Mae “Hedge” Hiatt age 84 formally of Cana, VA. passed away Friday January 22, 2016 at the Trinity Mission of Hillsville. Miss Hiatt was born December 13, 1931 in Carroll County to the late Mattie Fleming Hiatt and Thomas L. Hiatt, she was a retired Caregiver and was a member of Mount Bethel Moravian Church. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Leroy Bowman of Mt. Airy, grandchildren Sandy Edwards of Mt. Airy and Jeffrey Bowman of Mt. Airy, a great grandchild Wyatt Edwards of Mt. Airy, three sisters and brothers-in-law Lucy and Don Mills of Mt. Airy, Nancy and Gray Utt of Ararat, VA. and Gay and J.B. Dunn of Advance, NC., two brothers Gilbert Hiatt of Cana and Jimmy Hiatt of Fancy Gap , VA; and a special sister-in-law, Nifty Hiatt of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents Miss Hiatt was preceded in death by two sisters Polly Easter Stevens and Mabel Louise Hiatt, by four brothers Stuart Hiatt, Clyde Hiatt, Doug Hiatt and Lester Hiatt and by a special sister-in-law Kate Hiatt. Graveside services will be held Tuesday January 26, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Mount Bethel Moravian Church Cemetery with services conducted by Rev. Charles Fishel. There will be no formal visitation at Moody Funeral Home. The family would like to give a special thank you to Trinity Mission of Hillsville for all the love and care given to Miss Hiatt during her stay with them.
