Miss Myrtle Bell Johnson

Miss Myrtle Bell Johnson, age 66 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, October 07, 2011 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Miss Johnson was born in Surry County, February 9, 1945 to James Sanford and Mamie Pauline Snow Johnson. She was a loving sister who will be dearly missed by her devoted family. Surviving are two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie and Tom McMillian; Carol Davis and Abner Atkins; a brother, Leon Johnson all of Mt. Airy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Johnson was preceded in death by a sister Judith Johnson and brothers, Oliver Johnson and William Johnson, a sister-in-law Georgia Johnson and a niece and a nephew. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Gary Timmons and Rev. Tommy Floyd. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Abner Atkins and Carol Davis at 1501 Old Hwy 601. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice, the Woltz Hospice Home, Alleghany County Hospital and Sunbridge Nursing Center and especially Alesa Campbell for the wonderful care given to Miss Johnson.
