Miss Myrtle Nell Morris

Miss Myrtle Nell Morris, age 95, of Mount Airy passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Northern Regional Hospital. She was born in Surry County, April 3, 1927, the daughter of the late Emanuel Victor and Jessie Suzanna Webb Morris. Miss Morris was a dental assistant with Dr. Otis Oliver, D.D.S., for 27 years and later for the Surry County Health Department, where she retired after 17 years of service. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Mount Airy. Outgoing and sociable, Miss Morris was a loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews and a friend to everyone she met. She enjoyed the company of her wonderful neighbor, Pat Gallagher, as well as many other old and new friends. She is survived by 16 nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Marguerite Brown, Katherine Brown, Ruth Blackburn, Dorothy Boyles, and Howard Morris, Sr, and two nieces and one nephew. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church in Mount Airy with Rev. Jay Meadows officiating. A private interment will be held at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 714 North Main St., Mount Airy, NC 27030, The Children’s Center of Northwest North Carolina, PO Box 692, Dobson, NC 27017 or to the Shepherd’s House, 227 Rockford St., Mount Airy, NC 27030.  The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Skill Care unit at Northern Hospital for the wonderful care given to Ms. Morris for the last two years.
