Mr. Mitchell "Jerad" Riggins, 19, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born May 2, 1991, in Henry County, VA, to Donald Lee Riggins, Jr. and Debra Butcher Riggins. Mr. Riggins worked as a groundsman for Asplundh Tree Service. He was an avid sports lover, who shared his love for music and skateboarding with his many friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Donald Lee Riggins, Jr. and Debra Butcher Riggins of State Road; a sister, Christy Childress of Elkin; a brother, Brandon Childress of Dobson; his maternal grandmother, Emma Butcher of the home; his paternal grandfather, Donald Riggins of Pleasant Grove, VA; and lots of special friends, whom he loved dearly. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Preceding him death are his paternal grandmother, Regina Riggins; his maternal grandfather, Robert Chrisie Butcher; and his maternal great-grandmother, Mary Vada Tate. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday May 5, 2010, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Brian Cardwell. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 4, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
