Mona Overton Luffman

Mrs. Mona Overton Luffman, 89, of Mount Airy, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born October 22, 1934, to the late James William and Dorothy Rebecca Simmons Overton in McDowell County, West Virginia. Mrs. Luffman worked for 30 years at Tultex. She was an avid reader and lover of photographs of her family. Mona and her late husband, Willie’s home was adorned with cherished photos of their loved ones. She attended Anchored in Jesus Baptist Church, and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Left to cherish her memory, is her daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Kenneth Bullin; son and daughter-in-law, Willie Clarence Jr. and Sandra Luffman; grandchildren, Travis and Hope Bullin, Angela and Brandon Palmer, Renee and Chad Brown, and Kristi Luffman; great grandchildren, Trip Brown, Ada Grace Brown, Willson Brown, Mona Claire Brown, Wyatt Gaddis, Hadley Gaddis, Emma Bullin, Coley Palmer, and Luke Palmer; sister and brother-in-law, Janie and John Garris; sister-in-law, Alice “Faye” Overton; as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Mrs. Luffman was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie Clarence Luffman; sister, Elizabeth Overton; and brothers, Dexter Overton, Marvin Overton, and Norman Overton. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 5, 2024, in the Moody Davis Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. Larry Stone and Bro. Chad Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral on Monday, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to invite everyone to the Barn at Blueberry Hill at 1:30 PM, for a meal following the committal at the graveside.
