Mr. Alan Lee Smith

Mr. Alan Lee Smith, age 63, of Mt. Airy, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Smith was born on January 25, 1953 in Surry County to Merton Smith and Julia Kathleen “Kay” Leftwich Dulaney. He proudly served our country in the United States Marines and was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was well known for his immense talent in theatre performance and excelled in his love of acting with his special friends, Don Nance and Dikki Ellis Hicks. He was a loving father, brother and dear friend to so many. Surviving are a son, Ritchie Smith; a daughter, Sydni Smith; grandchildren, Khloe Smith and Charlei Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila and Roger Handy and Lori and Tony Greene and very special nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 26, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mtn. Post 9436 & Mt. The family will receive friends at Old North State Winery at 308 N. Main St., immediately following the service.
