Mr. Alton Wade Simmons, Sr

Mr. Alton Wade Simmons 76, of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday morning, November 7, 2015 at his home. Mr. Simmons was born on August 2, 1939 in Stokes County to the late Hayes Thomas Simmons and Lillie Mae Flippin Simmons. Mr. Simmons retired from Vulcan Materials after 45 years of dedicated service. Mr. Simmons is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Love Simmons of the home; two sons, Alton Simmons of Mt. Airy, and Andy Simmons of Mt. Airy; five grandchildren, Jade Simmons, Logan Simmons, Justin Simmons, Jarrett Simmons, and Ethan Simmons; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsey and Ken Bateman of Advance, and Judy and Steve Motsinger of Winston Salem; his aunt, Shelby Gregory of Farmington; and his mother-in-law, Eunice Love of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Hersie Love. Funeral services will be held in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dennis Bledsoe and Don Lampron officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 9, 2015 from 6-8 PM.
