Mr. Alvery Brockley Hubbard, age 95 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center of Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on April 23, 1912 to the late John Jeff and Susan Rorrer Hubbard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hubbard was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie H. Hubbard; four sons, James, Marvin, Clyde and Ernest Lee Hubbard; one granddaughter, Melissa Lorraine Hubbard; four brothers, and seven sisters. He had been a truck driver for R. L. Bowling and had retired from J.P. Stevens with 25 years of service. He was a longtime member of Jack's Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Hubbard is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lou Ella and James Handy of Woolwine, Delora and John Barker of Martinsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Maynard and Willa Kaye Hubbard of Stuart; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and 8 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Hubbard will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Jack's Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Donnie Conner and Milton Gunter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
