Mr. Alvis Akers Pendleton, age 79 of Stuart passed away Sunday at Blue Ridge Rehab in Martinsville. He was born in Patrick County on May 12, 1933 to the late Murray and Virginia Mize Pendleton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Martin Pendleton. He was a longtime member of New Hope Church of the Brethren and had served as a deacon.
Surviving are two daughters and sons in law, Barbara and Tony Lundy of Bassett, Mary and Lonnie Hamm of Dubuque, Iowa; three step children; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; one sister, Doris Shelton of Richmond; and three brothers, Evon Pendleton, Leon Pendleton, and Ray Pendleton all of Stuart.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Church of the Brethren with Pastor Rick Randall and Jack White officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at the church. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the arrangements.
