Mr. Arles Wayne Edwards

Mr. Arles Wayne Edwards, 82, of Cana, VA passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. He was born March 27, 1934 in Carroll County, VA to the late John Anderson and Miley Evelyn Cagle Edwards. He was a strong, but gentle man, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. Edwards was well respected throughout the community and a well know orchardist. Mr. Edwards was owner of the largest peach orchard in Carroll County for many years and a member of the Board of Directors of the Carroll County Farm Bureau for over twenty five years. He attended Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church. Survived by his wife of over 58 years, Mary Lucretia Jones Edwards; sons and daughter-in-law, Terry Wayne and Gleda Edwards of Kernersville, NC, Timmy Arles Edwards Yadkinville, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Edwards and spouse, Julie McCune of Washington, DC, Sarah Edwards of Houston, TX; Chase Edwards, Dylan Edwards and Weston Edwards all of Yadkin County; a brother and sister-in-law, Carvie and Ann Edwards of Belvue, OH. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his sisters, Lelia King, Vera McCraw and Leora Edwards; brothers, Lomin, Ralph, Marlie and Marvin Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Arwood Edwards and Elder V.J. Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2016 where the body will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Lucretia Edwards, 1614 Flower Gap Rd., Cana, VA 24317.
