Mr. Arthur "Junior" Wood

Mr. Arthur Dewey Wood "Jr.", age 89 of Vesta passed away Friday evening at RJR Patrick County Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 13, 1919 in Patrick County to the late Dewey and Winnie Howell Wood. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Leon Wood; one grandson, Kenny Banks; one foster brother, Randy Wood; one nephew, Maynard Cassell and a daughter in law, Mary Wood. Mr. Wood served in the US Army during World War II, and was a member of Meadows of Dan Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Roberta Isenhart Wood of the home; four daughters and sons in law, Carolyn and Linwood Belcher, Jean and Bill Banks, Ann and Richard Helms all of Meadows of Dan, Victoria and Tim Gregory of Galax; two sons and a daughter in law, Waymon Wood of Vesta, Robert and Arleen Wood of Vesta; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one sister and brother in law, Thelma and Junior Cassell of Vesta; one foster sister and brother in law, Alene and Clyde Hylton of Meadows of Dan; and one nephew, Arnold Cassell of Goode.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Tim McGrady and Preacher Clarence Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
