Mr. Bernie Woodrow Owens

Mr. Bernie Woodrow Owens, age 64 of Ararat passed away Monday morning, December 1, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on Feb. 23, 1944 in Stokes County, NC to the late James Woodrow Owens and Mary Eliza Hooker Owens of Francisco, NC.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of 44 years, Glenda Smith Owens of the home; two daughters, Sherry Lynn Owens of the home, Candy Burkhart, and husband, Gary, of Ararat; two sons, Dale Owens, and wife, Angela of Dry Pond, David Brian Owens of Ararat; 5 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Libby Whitt of Dobson, NC, Katie Sue Bowman of Pilot Mountain, NC, Beanie Stuart of Francisco, NC, Gail McMillan of Pfafftown, NC; one brother, Roland Owens of Lawsonville, NC; and a special friend, Bubba.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Unity Church in Ararat with Pastors Buford Jessup and Wayne Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Unity Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
