Mr. Billy M. Johnson, Sr., 83, of Dobson passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Willowbrook Nursing Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Surry County on February 12, 1929 to the late Willie Franklin and Maude Stone Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a retired farmer and a dedicated member of Copeland Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Deacons for many years. His life was dedicated to his service of the Lord, his family and community. He was a member of the Copeland Masonic Lodge # 390 and was held in high esteem by his fellow Masons. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Annie "Reecie" White Johnson; a beloved daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Gregg Swaim, of Dobson; three grandchildren, Heather Taylor, Ryan Swaim and Patrick Swaim, all of Dobson; a great-granddaughter, Maddie Taylor, also of Dobson; a sister and brother-in-law, Maudine and Herald York of Mount Airy; two sisters-in-law, Naomi and husband Clinton Watson of Morganton, and Gladys White of Dobson; several special nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his dear son, Billy M. Johnson, Jr..; three sisters, Ada Ellen Money, Margaret Snow and Beatrice Hamlin; and two brothers, Henderson and Herbert Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Copeland Baptist Church by Rev. Kenny King and Rev. Joey Jessup with full Masonic Rites by the Copeland Masonic Lodge # 390. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Monday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon's International, Dobson Camp, PO Box 791 Dobson, NC 27017.
