Mr. Billy Jefferson Nelson Sr

Mr. Billy Jefferson Nelson Sr., age 87, of Elkin, NC, formerly of Spencer, Virginia, passed away on Friday February 10, 2017 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. He was born in Patrick Co. Va. on February 16, 1929 to the late Willie Everette Nelson and the late Molly Tudor Nelson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte Ann Turner Nelson. Mr. Nelson was the owner and operator Old Well Market and Café in Spencer, Virginia, upon retirement he worked at Gordon Trent Golf Course, and attended Old Well Christian Church in Spencer, Virginia, and a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean conflict. Surviving is his son and daughter-in-law BJ Nelson and Kimberly Nelson of Elkin; two granddaughters Afton Nelson and Larkyn Nelson; one sister Hazel Patterson; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday February 18, 2017 at Old Well Christian Church with full Military Honors around the flag pole at Old Well Christian Church, by Patrick County Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Old Well Christian Church on Saturday February 18, 2017 from 9:00 AM until the time of his service at 11:00 AM, the family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Old Well Christian Church Cemetery Fund 150 Grand Lake Dr. Ridgeway, VA 24148. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, NC is serving the Nelson family.
