Mr. Bobby Joe Berttram

Mr. Bobby Joe Berttram, age 70 of Walnut Cove, NC, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Walnut Cove Health and Rehab Center. He was born in Westpoint, AL on Dec. 24, 1945. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Fay Goins Berttram; his mother, Dorothy James; and a step son, Phillip Douglas Flippin. Bobby was a U.S. Merchant Marine Captain. His ship carried oil imports and exports and ensured that waterways remained open for commerce. The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s children and grandchildren is not material things accumulated in one’s life, but rather a legacy of character and faith. Bobby enjoyed sharing in the lives of Linda’s son’s family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Robert Wade of Thomasville, AL; a niece, Tessa Foote (Scott) of Nashville, TN; a nephew, Shannon Finney (Kelly) of Thomasville, AL; and his guardians, Valencia Robertson-Bullins of Walnut Cove, NC and Ann Jones of Westfield, NC.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Collinstown Presbyterian Church with Pastor Shaun Draughn and Rev. Ricky Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:30 at the church.
