Mr. Bobby Jean Mangrum

Mr. Bobby J. Mangrum, age 85, of Stuart passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the VA Hospital in Salem. He was born in Patrick County on September 22, 1930 to the late Dolphus Calvin Mangrum and Pearl Grace DeHart Mangrum. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mangrum was preceded in death by three brothers, J.B., Ralph and Garland Mangrum; and one sister, Sue Leigh Mangrum. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and had retired as a mechanic from J.P. Stevens.

Mr. Mangrum is survived by his wife of 60 years, Winifred Haynes Mangrum of the home; three sons, Bobby W. Mangrum and wife, Amy of Woolwine, Billy Joe Mangrum of Collinsville, Danny Ray Mangrum and wife, Kim of Bassett; three grandchildren, Audrey M. Jones, James Mangrum, Katelyn Grace Mangrum; one step-grandson, Austin Martin; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Mae Jones and Noah Anthony Jones; and one sister, Mabel Wood of Franklin Springs, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held Friday June 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church with Brother Danny Gilley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of the service at the church. If desired, memorials may be made to Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O.
