Mr. Bobby Clifton Newman

Mr. Bobby Clifton Newman, age 80, of State Road, NC passed away on Friday March 28, 2014. He was born in Surry County on December 24, 1933 to the late James Fletcher Newman and the late Bertha Billings Newman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son Bill Clifton Newman three brothers Jack Newman and Jim Newman and Bill Newman; one sister Reba Brown; one son-in-law Junior Watson. He was a self employed Carpenter, was a veteran of the US Army having served dring the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Bessie's Chapel Baptist Church. Surviving is his Daughter Patsy N. Watson of Dobson, two sons Jerry and Coleen Newman of Elkin, Buddy and Tammy Newman of Elkin;mother of his children Betty Dezern Newman of Elkin; six grandchildren Amie Hall, Phillip Newman, Meka Newman, Telea Newman, Justin Sloan, and Nathan Newman: three great grandchildren; two sisters Ruby Wagoner of Stanleyville, Nell Newman Dudley of State Road; two brothers Johnny Newman of Thurmond, Don Newman of Poplar Springs. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday March 31, 2014 at Bessie's Chapel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Jerry Childress and Rev. Roger Hensley will conduct the services. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson.
