Mr. Bobby Jones Pinkard

Mr. Bobby Jones Pinkard, age 79 of Wise and formerly of Martinsville, left this Earth for a Greater Place, Sunday February 19, 2012 at Heritage Hall in Wise. He was surrounded by his wife, daughter, granddaughter and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years Thelma Mae Williams Pinkard of Wise; daughter, Cathy Lynne Pinkard Fletcher and husband, Randall S. Fletcher of Wise; 6 grandchildren, Cheri Quinn, Nick Pinkard, Troy Hailey, Brandon Fletcher, Aaron Pinkard and Sommer Pinkard; 8 great grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert Wayne and "Connie" Pinkard of Warner Robbins, Georgia and Jimmy Pinkard of Norfolk; along with countless other close family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, David Michael Pinkard; his parents, John and Ethel Jones Pinkard; and eight brothers, Lynwood, Roy, Charley, Andrew, Kenneth, Keith, Raymond and Earl Pinkard.
Mr. Pinkard was a faithful, loving, generous husband, father, grandfather and businessman who will always be remembered for his outgoing personality and vast sense of humor. Prior to operating his business, Pinkard's Insurance in Martinsville, VA, he served his country for 23 years in the United States Army and United States Air Force. Bobby and Thelma and their children traveled the United States and foreign countries while he served. They finally settled down in Martinsville in 1972.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart on Friday February 24, 2012 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Doug Ramsey officiating. A graveside service will follow in the Williams Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
