Mr. Bruce Wyatt Hawks

Mr. Bruce Wyatt Hawks, 73, of Kernersville, former resident of Mt. Airy, succumbed to the end of his courageous battle with MS on August 25, 2017 at Wake Forrest Baptist Medical Center. He was born the oldest son of the late Roscoe and Ruth McCraw Hawks on June 17, 1944. He bravely served in the U.S. Air Force receiving a purple heart while stationed in Vietnam. Mr. Hawks was a dedicated member of Sedge Gardens United Methodist Church in Kernersville, and was always extremely involved in community service. He was a representative for the handicapped for the City Council of Kernersville; a member of the Elks Lodge; President of the Home Owners Association. He was a member of Renfro Masonic Lodge 691 AF & AM, also a 32nd Degree Shriner and Knights Templar. Mr. Hawks remained an active voice in community as long as his health permitted. He is survived by his younger brother, Garry W. Hawks. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens with Masonic Rites and full military rites with VFW Honor Guard Mt Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National MS Society, P.O.
