Mr. Buford Calvin Wood

Mr. Buford Calvin Wood, age 63 of Meadows of Dan, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2007, at his home. He was born in Patrick County on June 7, 1943. He was a self-employed construction contractor. He was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees, and recently attended Harris Chapel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Benton Wood.
Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Rita Belcher Wood, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Marcus and Alesa Wood of Meadows of Dan; one granddaughter, Hannah Wood; his mother, Claudine Hall Wood of Meadows of Dan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Howard Belcher and Margaret and Leo Boyd, all of Meadows of Dan; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gilbert and Barbara Wood of Stuart, Harry and Kay Wood of Kingsport, Tennessee and Richard and Karen Wood of Meadows of Dan.
Funeral services for Mr. Wood will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Norman Biggs and Chaplain Bunny Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of her son, Marcus Wood, 1647 Cloudbreak Road, Meadows of Dan.
